Ok so I'm getting a little worried about Soriano and while I think Carpenter can stay healthy the rest of the way, I know it's a big if. I have a stacked OF and I'd really like a stud 2B to plug into my lineup (12 team mixed):
I know my pitching kinda blows, and losing Carpenter would make it even worse... but let's be honest, I'm not gonna win ERA/WHIP anyway. As is I'm already semi-streaming for K, W, and Q each week. I think further stacking my offense might be worth it. Also the free agents available to pick up after this trade are:
Daisuke Matsuzaka JP Howell Reimold De La Rosa Koji Uehara etc.
So I could find at least a somewhat serviceable replacement. That was pretty much my case for why I should make this deal. Anyone after reading that still think I shouldn't? Please share.
Is this offer on the table? For the reasons you've mentioned, I think i'd consider doing this...but why not see if you could get a slighly downgraded pitcher or something thrown in? Utley is by far the most valuable guy in the deal, and its always nice to be recieving the best guy.
Yeah the offer's on the table from my end, and I don't think it'd have a shot with any other pitcher. Honestly, I don't mind cutting the injury risk in Carpenter that much.
I think you are giving up too much, but thats because I'm so high on Carp. So if you are willing to give him up then I would probably do it. I think you could trade Carp for someone like Brandon Phillips.
i think you're giving up too much in both deals, but especially the 2nd. don't accept the counter! the 1st deal is better for you b/c you're not giving up two hitters like cruz and holliday. i'd probably do that since you can pick up a guy on waivers to fit in your UTIL spot. just don't undervalue soriano too much.
