Shields owner has been pursuing my Ellsbury, and recently proposed this: i give: Ellsbury i get: J.Shields
My thoughts on Shields:
If you look at Shields numbers, they are almost identical to 2007 and 2008 (BB-rate, K-rate, HR-rate, etc...). The only difference is that his BAA this year is .282 instead of ~.250 like it has always been. His BABIP is .321 compared to .287 over the last three years. He is a consistent horse that racks up QS, Ks and helps with WHIP and ERA
My thoughts on Ellsbury:
will eventually put up solid run totals (even if he's hitting in the 8/9 hole nice source of SBs in the middle/late week when i might need them hitting for a solid average, but struggling in the OBP department
Available speed on WW: M.Bourn, W.Tavaras, A.McCutchen, C.Gomez, D.Fowler Available pitchers on WW: Tommy Hanson (W), Randy Johnson,

I would do the trade. It looks like you already have a bit of a logjam in your outfield so you shouldn't have a problem getting by without Ellsbury. Bourn provides comparable stats to Ellsbury anyway, so if, after doing this, you find you're in need of runs or SBs you can grab Bourn without losing much.
why do you have justin upton on bench? well anyway, i would drop floyd and get hanson, then i would accept that trade since you are stacked in offense.
I'm an Ellsbury owner and huge fan of his, but because of your considerable outfield depth and the fact that you could get Bourn off waivers to replace Ellsbury's speed then I would go ahead and pull the trigger on it. It would be wise to add Shields as a solid complement to Santana & Sabathia on your pitching staff. This is the kind of deal championships are built from.
this trade makes sense for you since you have a lot of stud OF and some question marks near the the end of your pitching staff, but you would be a little short on speed
