Votto AND Francisco dropped! Try and pick both up?

RP - Soria, Downs, Soriano

I just dropped C. Davis for Smoltz, FYI.

I can't figure out what possessed my buddy to drop these 2. He's a huge Yankees homer and made such questionable draft moves as Tex #6 overall, K-Rod in the 4th, Adkins in the 5th, Matsui in the 11th, and actually bothering to draft Brett Gardner. He's offered me Aaron Hill for ARod straight up. When I inquired about Halladay, he said he wanted ARod in return. And then recently went on to trade Halladay to Francisco (who he just dropped) and Zimmerman.

Quite frankly I can't figure out what the hell he's thinking. But anyways, these two are no-brainer pickups, right? I'm only 5th on the waiver list so there's probably a good chance I don't get either (though my buddy who dropped them is 4th so hopefully I get at least one) Who should I drop? I figure Soriano for Francisco is the obvious choice. What about Votto? Do I ditch Smoltz before I get anything from him?

I pretty much agree with the above, but also, although you didn't ask for it and I am probably in the minority here, I would think about trying to get Davis back if you miss one of the two you are trying to get.

Grab both and tell your biddy he is an idiot - after you trade him ARod for everything of value on his team.

you do not need offense, and frank fransisco has been injured for a while. if anything i would drop soriano for fransisco AFTER he clears waiver. i would not use my waiver on those players with your current team.

Well, I put Votto as the #1 priority waiver and got him, missed out on Francisco. Probably worked out for the best since Downs just went on the DL so I'm not down to one healthy reliever now. I do have 5 guys on the DL though, which isn't helping.
