Manager Mike Scioscia said there is a slight chance Guerrero could be playing the outfield by June 26. Guerrero continues to play as the designated hitter, but the chest injury is clearly hindering his hitting - he is batting just .266 with one home run and nine RBI in 109 at-bats this season. He hasn't hit a home run since returning to the lineup on May 25 after missing more than a month with the injury. Hopefully this is a sign that he's healing and that he'll turn his season around.
Did I miss the point where Vlad was playing so badly?
He was injured for the first month and a half of the season, but since his return, he's been playing pretty damn well. He's only gone without a hit in 4 games since his return (18 games), and while he hasn't hit any homers but does have 4 doubles, a triple, and a stolen base. He's returning from a major injury, but he's still raised his average almost 30 points. Why would they say that this is hopefully a sign and that he'll turn his season around? It sure looks like the numbers indicate that he's well on his way to doing that already, no?
Anyway, I was just frustrated that it seems that some folks seem to be ignoring the progress Vlad's made recently.
