One open spot on roster, who to pick up?

Postby iltat » Sun Jun 14, 2009 5:24 pm

12 team, H2H, 10x10, keeper (5), currently in about 5th place.

So my roster is currently:

C - Mauer
1B - AGon
2B - Phillips
SS - Rollins
3B - Huff (1B, 3B)
LF - Dukes (All OF)
CF - Kemp (CF, RF)
RF - Vlad
Util - Barmes (2B, SS, 3B)

SP - Halladay
Slowey
Dempster
Randy Wells
Blackburn
Porcello
Nolasco
Kershaw
RP - Soriano
Wood
Franklin
DL - Webb (SP)

So, I've got one open spot. JP Howell (RP, new Tampa closer), Nolan Reimold (LF, CF), Cody Ross (All OF), Nyjer Morgan (All OF), Jason Kubel (LF, RF), Hermida (LF, RF), Podsednik (LF, CF), Chris Coghlan (2B, LF), Rick Ankiel (All OF), and Willie Bloomquist (SS, all OF) are some interesting free agents. There are obviously a lot more, but these are the ones who qualify at LF (and the new Tampa closer) since I'm not entirely sure I want to depend on Dukes just yet. Whoever I get (if a hitter) is most likely a month rental, as I'm getting Damon as my LF once Manny returns (strange trade I just did).

So, what do you think? Who should I grab?

Tough choice, but I'd have to go with Cody Ross. Yeah he's not a big name, but I've had him for the past month and he's been a consistent producer. He bats low in Florida's order, but always seems to get his hits and RBIs in.

Howell for me. Looks like he's pitching himself into the bulk of the save opps in TB and being that you only have 2 sure closers it'd be nice to add that 3rd. He's a better bet at long term value than any of the hitters who look to be monthly rentals IMO.

For a quick fix I think I would go with Ross. He has been insane the last month, something like 20 runs, 5 hrs, 20 rbis and hitting like .340!

A little help please: viewtopic.php?t=390122

I like Reimold or Bloomquist, depending on how you value flexibility, Bloomquist being an infield helper as well as outfield.

Howell could be the closer, might not be. Has it been announced, or are people assuming?

I think Howell. I think he would be more valuable to you than the others.

I like Reimold. I think he has the most upside in LF.
