i dont want to continue to get into the Jays situation in this thread. i cant see anything convincing me that Ricciardi should not be fired, and i cant see anything convincing me that Halladay should not be traded.. IF the Jays can get the right package of players for him. the Jays dont NEED Halladay 2010 and beyond. both Marcum and McGowan are coming back next season and with the other young pitchers currently on the major league team (along with Brett Cecil in the minors) Halladay and his potentially huge contract arnt NEEDED.
the biggest reason TO resign him would be the fans, but if the team is winning without Halladay im sure they are going to be more happy than being an average team with Halladay.

couldnt the Mariners get more for Bedard than just Loney?

apparently the Tigers are willing to deal and add payroll.
Carlos Guillen could be lost for the rest of the season, so maybe they could be looking for more of a full time bat for LF? they could maybe trade for someone like Cody Ross? Detroit and Florida have a recent history of trading in the Cabrera deal.

Halladay will help this team contend next season and into the future. And the Jays can easily afford his price, especially if he takes another bargain to stay. Unless the team plans to trade every veteran player they have and undergo a massive rebuilding process, there is no good reason to trade him. I can't stress this point enough.

I was mentioning this to a fellow Cubs fan the other day. Nothing but speculation, but I can see the Cubs at least trying to aquire Matt Holliday. Any legs to this out there? Are they going to go after any arms? I would love to see one more reliever (lefty specialist?) and at least some sort of offensive boost.

Not sure on fielding but I do know the managers and upper Braves players are tired of his antics in the clubhouse and on the field. Not too sure what all has gone on but from what I gather many people are saying he acts like a big baby.
