Next hot Rookie catcher?

Postby y2jayjk » Sun Jun 14, 2009 3:41 am

In my deep league, I am happy with Sandoval but not with Saltalamacchia at all.

Is Jason Jaramillo (Pit) or Ryan Hanigan (Cin) anything worth looking into?

If not them, are there any in AAA that may be coming up this year yet or any others that are already up and should be taken and replace Saltalamacchia on my team?

I'm an NL-only guy, so my input will stick to the senior circuit.

Jaramillo got called up when Doumit got injured. I think he projects to lose a lot of PT whenever Doumit comes back. But he's getting there.

Hanigan has been around the last two years as the backup in CIN. I think he also loses time as the DL situation there shakes out. (votto comes back, so hernandez goes from 1b/c to just c.)

I've had both at different times over the last two years.

If you're looking for HOT, I'd look Buster Posey, SF. Not sure how many years away he is, but he was a top-10 maybe top-5 pick in last years amateur draft. Also, Lou Marson, PHI, came up for a while this year and may win the job outright next year. I don't think his numbers project to be gaudy like Martin, Wieters, Soto. But it looks like he'll be a solid big leaguer. Last one to look at might be Angel Salome in MIL. Jason Kendall needs to call it quits at some point, right?
