You guys have such high standards. :-D

How many times have you watched a movie based on a book that you have read and you actually enjoyed the movie more than the book? Not many, I would guess.

I thought it was a joke all this time, but the trailer looks good. Seems like a Social Network for baseball fans. Brad Pitt is a curious choice for Beane, but a baseball movie with Brad Pitt as the lead? I highly doubt this movie fails. I can see the ending being like a Social Network/Animal House ending where they just list the players and how they did and finish with the AL West titles Oakland won.

Moneyball, the Movie

Postby Y`s Guy » Sat Jun 18, 2011 9:55 am

Moneyball

The trailer looks like a baseball junkies pleasure. As for being a date movie...not so much.

So, will you pay to see it? Or wait for the DVD? I'm leaning DVD.

I may even email my league to ssee who wants to do a happy hour and a show. Oh, that might work. ;-D

I like the look of it, and though I would normally lean towards a DVD as well, I figure there's so few mainstream movies I'm interested in these days that this might be something I need to see in the fall just to get out of the house. Plus, been awhile since I've seen a good baseball movie...

meh. Maybe if they had won anything it would be a somewhat compelling story but they didn't so the drama seems completely contrived.

Zero. The book is always better.

Godfather, LOTR, Bladerunner and all of the Bourne movies were better than the books.

Don't forget the Shawshank Redemption. Also, wasn't Jaws originally a book?

Not a movie, but Dexter was a book as well before a TV Show.
