Someone is offering his Hamilton for my Smoltz in a regular Yahoo league. I'm a bit weary with both players, but I just lost Halladay for awhile so I need all the pitching I can get. Meanwhile, my OFs are pretty stacked with Ellisbury, Mags, Abreu, and Carlos Lee. It seems like a great deal, that is if Hamilton can return by ASB and rakes. Otherwise he'd just be a .250 hitter who Ks a lot.

I'm guessing this is not a keeper league since you didn't mention it...
I would stand pat and keep Smoltz. You said you need pitching and you are looking good in the field. Plus, I don't see Hamilton being useful until late August. Even then he may need some time to warm up. And, no doubt Texas will be out of the race by then, decreasing any need to rush him back.

Thanks. I'm also weary of his post ASB numbers. There was a huge drop off in production last year for him.

I actually disagree. Hamilton is the type of guy who can win a league for you. Smolz hasn't pitched in a year, and is now in the AL East so his dominance isn't exactly guaranteed either. I would make the trade and look to swing a OF-for-SP trade once Hamilton returns.
