S. Drew or T. Tulo? Keeper League

Postby woodson_28 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 4:03 pm

10 team, Keeper league. H2H 7x7 w/ the hitting categories:

H, R, RBI, HR, SB, AVG, OPS

T. Tulowitzki

S. Drew

Which player do you like for the rest of the year and for a Keeper league?

I drafted Tulo and dropped him two weeks back for S. Drew. Both have been playing well lately. Tulo is still sitting in the FA. I drafted Tulo because I thought he was the better player (S. Drew was drafted a few picks after Tulo). Which player has the higher upside? Oh, and since both have been in the FA, they'll only cost a 23rd rd pick to keep.

Which player would you rather have? Thanks

Appreciate it.

Here are some stats: Tulo has about 40 more AB's right now.

Tulo - 24R, 7HR, 20RBI, 5SB
Drew - 16R, 3HR, 21RBI, SB

It appears that Tulo has more pop, but will likely have less RBI's. Thoughts?

In a keeper league I'd rather have Tulo. Has a higher ceiling although it's not a slam drunk.

ok, two replies so far. I know most people don't like responding, so I added a poll. Just take a look and pick one or the other. Which ever you think will produce better from here out. Thanks.

It's a bit of a toss up. Tulo seems like a one season wonder, I think it'll all come together for Drew sooner or later. I'd choose Drew.

At one time, I would have said Tulo, but I favour Drew now.

I take Tulo. He really has only played one year. Last year was cut short by injury. First year, he got much better after June 1. Last year, he played better after June 1, but the injuries make it an insignificant sample size. Tulo has been getting much lately, and I think it's the beginning of a turnaround this year. My advice (and I own Tulo in a keeper and I did this this year with Asdrubal Cabrera) is to draft an extra SS and plan on playing him until June 1. Then plug Tulo in and see what happens. He has slightly more upside than Drew in a much better lineup and more hitters friendly home field.

Despite my arguement that I just made, I will say that is very close and I'm not sure that I'm right. But I'm following a hunch that I am and have been saying all year to wait on Tulo until mid-June before cutting bait with him. So far, it's working out nicely.
