3 homers in 5 games. I would say he is heating up... Though i doubt he ever regains his 2003 to 2007 form.

More than one? I'd be plenty happy with just 1B. Although now that I think about it, the Sox' SS situation is pretty ugly right now...
That post just made me picture Ortiz playing SS... that just isn't right! You've gotta give some sort of warning before you make a post like that again! Lol.
Tell ya what, I bet they'd stop complaining about how slow Lugo is if that happened!
Anyone have any insight on whether Ortiz will get any more starts at 1B this week?
Ortiz is batting .308 in June with 5 HR in 52 AB.
Earlier this week, Ortiz started the first game of the interleague series at Philadelphia, but he was lifted in the 6th inning for a defensive replacement in a 2-1 game. Although Ortiz made no errors, he was unable to run down a long fly ball in foul territory that was tailing away from him. It was his first appearance at 1B since 2007. He hasn't started more than 10 games at 1B since 2004.
The Red Sox visit Washington and Atlanta this week form 6 straight games at NL Parks. They are scheduled to face 5 righties in a row... Lannan (L), Stammen (R), Zimmerman (R), Jurrjens (R), Vazquez (R), Hanson (R).
Mike Lowell was given Sat 6/20 and Sun 6/21 off to rest his surgically repaired hip. He's currently in a 2-for-18 slump. This season, Lowell is sporting a .767 OPS vs RHP and a .738 OPS on the road. Kevin Youkilis slides over to 3B when Lowell is out of the lineup. Mark Kotsay, who owns a career .751 OPS, has filled in at 1B.
Sat 6/27 vs. Vazquez seems like the ideal day to rest Youkilis who has been striking out a lot since returning from the DL. Youkilis is .071 against Vazquez in 14 AB with 7 K. Comparatively, Ortiz is .304 in 23 AB, Lowell is .283 in 46 AB, and Kotsay is .200 in 35 AB.
Ortiz needs to get 2 more starts at 1B to gain eligibility in my league. His only realistic chance to do it is this week (Boston has no games at NL parks on the schedule after Sun 6/28). While I wouldn't bet on Ortiz getting 2 starts at 1B this week, I think there's a a decent chance... maybe 30%.
Wow, these adds that are right over the place where I'm typing are really really obnoxious! Anything that can be done about that? I can't even see what I'm typing.
Anyway, no need to go through all of that. Who knows whats going to happen. I have no inside informatin, but I think they would have to be crazy to play Lowell more than 1 of the games in either of the away series' with the NL... so you should get 4 times with Big Papi at 1st base. That would make him 1st base eligible in Yahoo, I believe, with 5 starts total. I suppose there is the possibility that they play Kotsay instead of Ortiz, but I'm not sure why since Papi is doing well now.
