On defense? He played a few games at 1B two years ago.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/590 ... pe=Batting I've had him in the lineup for the past few days and he hasn't made me regret it yet. I guess there was nowhere to go but up, but I'm pretty excited. I'd love to get production from my 5th and 7th (Soto has been hitting the past week as well) round picks.

a lot of his recent hits have been to the left side of the park instead of the right. In the past, when he had great power numbers, he was hitting to the right (which is why teams were putting in a defensive shift against him). It seems like he has changed his swing.

he might even pick up 1B eligibility due to his timely hot streak. From the Boston Globe: David Ortiz has brought his mitt to Philadelphia -- he's starting at first base tonight while Kevin Youkilis shifts over to third and Mike Lowell gets the night off against Phillies righthander Joe Blanton. Also, Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the Red Sox lineup tonight and batting seventh. He missed the three-game Yankees series with a strained right shoulder.
