Blockbuster Trade Offer WHIR

Postby Mashug » Thu Jun 11, 2009 11:15 pm

I was offered the folowing...

his: Crawford, Derek Lee, Harden and Brian Roberts

my: Beltran, Loney, Burnett and Phillips,

10 team Yahoo roto 5x5

C: Molina
1b: Morneau
2b: Phillips
SS: Hardy
3b: Lowell
CI: Beltre
MI: J. Lopez
OF: Beltran, Pence, Werth, Ludwick
Util: Bourne
BN: Sandoval, Loney, Collaspo, Jose Reyes
DL: Aramis

SP: Beckett, Greinke, Peavy, Burnett, Outman, Kuroda
RP: Rivera, Broxton, F. Cordero, Perez, Mott
DL: Kaz

I countered leaving out Phillips, but got rejected. He's interested in JJ Hardy as a possible alternative to Phillips, but I'd have to take either Andrus or Hairston Jr. in return. Should I jump on this or stand pat?

Hey bro, I just cant see any reason to do this trade.

Crawford and Beltran are both top 5 OF's, essentially a wash.

Lee and Loney are very similar players, not clear winner.

Burnett is superior to Harden, you would lose.

Roberts is superior to Phillips, you would in.

I don't know man I think you should just stand pat, you upgrade a little bit @ 2nd, and if you do it with Hardy (and I believe you would win in that case) you would be stuck with 2 second basemen, so it makes no sense.

not so sure about this. i wouldnt trade for crawford since i think his value is at his peak. you would be buying high. harden is always a injury risk. roberts and phillips is essentially a push. loney and lee? basically throw ins.

If I were you I would feel I am not getting back equal talent for Beltran or Phillips.

What is your aim in this trade?

My goal was to pick up runs and steals without giving up a ton of HRs. Beltran's BA should slip about 50 points from here on. I don't think Crawford's will slip that much. I give up hr's but Bourne will go to my bench and Crawford basically takes his place as a steals source with 15 hr potential. Lee then goes to the util spot. All that made sense to me until Phillips for Roberts was thrown back.

I also hate using Burnett. You never know what he's going to do. True, Harden is Mr. DL, but when he's healthy, he's amazing. Again though, Phillips is the deal killer.
