Peavy for ManRam?

Postby DiMoTik » Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:24 pm

Let me start by saying I just traded Raul Ibanez for Tim Lincecum and I would like to know if I made the right choice in doing so.

I'm in a 10 team head-to-head league and my outfield consists of Adam Jones, Carlos Lee, Jason Bay, and Shin-Soo Choo (bench). My pitching rotation is Chad Billingsley, Josh Johnson, Felix Hernandez, Jake Peavy, Tim Lincecum, Jason Marquis (bench), Edinson Volquez (DL), and Randy Wolf (bench). I have been offered Manny Ramirez for Jake Peavy. Should I take this trade or are my outfielders strong enough without Manny?

c Kurt Suzuki
1b Lance Berkman
2b Chase Utley
3b David Wright
ss Stephen Drew
of Jason Bay
of Adam Jones
of Carlos Lee
dh carlos pena
sp chad billingsley
sp Josh Johnson
sp Felix Hernandez
sp Jake Peavy
sp Tim Lincecum
rp Ryan Franklin
rp Brian Wilson

bench Shin-Soo Choo
bench Russell Branyan
bench Edinson Volquez
bench Jason Marquis
bench Randy Wolf

ps: Kevin Millwood, Clayton Kershaw, and Hiroki Kuroda are still available as Free Agents

You definitely have enough pitching to make up for the loss of Peavy. Who is in your UTIL spot (if you've got one), a Jones, Lee, Bay, Manny lineup would be quite dominating. Manny returns in 23 days or so that means about 4-5 starts from Peavy. I say do it.

I would sit tight actually. Your pitching staff is EXTREMELY dominating and your lineup is pretty studly also.

I would actually try to see what you could get for Berkman and then move Pena to 1b and make the Peavy for Manny deal and put Manny at UTIL when he gets back.

Great team though.

Take it and run!!

You can move another OF for a replacement SP. Peavy doesn't appear to be in cy young form and you're not going to get higher value for him, even at his peak.
