Do i sell hi on Aaron Hill?? WHIR

Postby soxfan03833 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 2:16 pm

I am in a standard 5x5 roto league with 12 teams. Each team has 5 keepers, and Aaron Hill is one of mine. I have him for $5 this year, $7 next, and $9 the year after. My roster is...
C- Rob Johnson
C- V-Mart
1B- Tex
2B- Hill
3B- Maicer Izturis
SS- Julio Lugo
CI- Lyle Overbay
MI- Willie Bloomquist
Of- Pat Burrell
OF- Delmon Young
OF- Jose Guillen
OF- Denard Span
OF- Jason Bay
UTIL- Jed Lowrie
BN- Max Ramirez

P-Gavin Floyd
P-Jeremy Guthrie
P-Scott Downs
P-Scott Baker
P-Zumaya
P-BJ Ryan
P-Tim Wakefield
P-Fernando Rodney
P-Jesse Carlson
BN-Scott Kazmir
BN-Junichi Tazawa

I missed the last 6 rounds or so of my draft so i had to fill with waiver wire players, which is why my team is not very good. I have made some trades, to get V-Mart and such, but I am in 9th place and don't think I am going very far. I was offered Jered Weaver, Akinori Iwamura, and Scott Richmond for Hill and Kazmir, and I liked the deal at first. Weaver and Iwamura are cheap contracts, not as cheap as Hill, but still good contracts, and i have been looking for pitching, as the was the weaker part or my team so far this year. I have Baker, guthrie Floyd, Ryan, Lowrie, Young, and Hill under contract, and if Downs keeps the closing job i could keep him after this year, since he will only cost $3. But like i said, i liked the offer, figuring Iwamura and Weaver were under contract, and if Richmond can pitch well he could stay in the Jays Rotation even when Marcum, Litsch, and McGowan come back. But looking at Hill's numbers before he was hurt last year, they had gone up every year before, leading me to second guess myself as to whether he is the real deal or not. I insisted he be put in a trade last year, cause i liked him, but now that he is ripping it up, do i sell hi or keep him? and if i trade him, should i ask for Weaver and Iwamura for Hill, and keep Kazmir for now knowing that when he comes back from the DL he could up his asking price?

i would be weary of trading kazmir right now, at his lowest value. Its completely possible he has straightened things out, and will have a decent second half of the year, making this trade a no no. I'd hold on to kazmir for now, and see what you can get for aaron hill, who I wouldn't be opposed to selling high, especially considering where you probably drafted him.

help me out please

I wouldn't do this... Kazmir has too much worth long term IMO, especially for you, who doesn;t have much in the pool for SP...

I too agree that selling Hill by himself could be good for you

Please see mine;
