Big Bad Josh's Trade Value - Any of These Seem Fair?

Postby jmcampbe11 » Wed Jun 10, 2009 9:17 pm

10 team roto league (we keep 3 players each season). I want to trade Hamilton for a 2nd tier player rather then wait for him because I have a real shot to win this year and other keeper options. How low should I be willing to go? Here's a listing of the 2nd tier players on the basement dwelling teams in my league. What players would you consider fair value for Hamilton at this point?

UPDATE - THE PENCE FOR HAMILTON DEAL IS ON THE TABLE. SHOULD I DO IT?

Abreu
V.Guerrero
Zimmerman
V.Wells
Ichiro
Pence
Mauer
Dunn
Quentin
A.Ramirez
M.Young

MY TEAM
C-Martin 1b-A.Gonzalez 2b-Phillips ss-Alx.Ramirez 3b-Longoria CI-C.Jones MI-Stewart(or Beckham)
OF-Adm.Jones, Ludwick, Dye, Choo, Kubel Util-Reimold (or Crisp) Bench-*Hamilton, *Sizemore
SP-Greinke, Gallardo, Lilly, Jimenez, K.Escobar, Danks
RP-Broxton, Qualls, B.Wilson

I'd go with Pence. The rest of that bunch all have age/health/durability issues...aside from Mauer, which I highly doubt you could extract for an injured Hamilton. Abreu would be my second choice. Both of these players could help you in some capacity across the board (assuming Abreu finds some power in the second half).

Can you return the favor? Cheers. viewtopic.php?t=389728

I agree on Mauer. I was thinking I could float Martin/Hamilton for Mauer by the other owner to see if he'd bite. Probably a long shot still though.

So you like Pence or Abreu? I could use help with batting avg so Pence does have some appeal.

Any thoughts from anyone else?

First off, if you're doing well enough without Hammy, you could probably fair to wait until his return...

But, if you think you've got to move him, I like Young if he is both SS and 3B. He fits your team very well - Al. Ram started slow, and if he doesn't heat back up Young is solid. Jones is an injury risk - Young is a fair backup. Stewart could cool off too.

Ichiro would be good for you too - great avg, some SB, and I think your OF is not very reliable.

Help me out if you get a chance.

I'm in 2nd place, but I think I'm bound to fall...especially if Sizemore misses more than 2 weeks. So you like Ichiro and Young (he is ss/3b eligible). Would you rank Ichiro first and Young 2nd.

I would aim for Ichiro out of those guys or Pence. You could use the OF help.

Depends on players available on the wire. I would guess that there's more depth at OF than IF, especially MI. Also, consider that Sizemore will come off your bench at some point to bolster your OF.
That said, Ichiro does have a higher value without considering the wire or place on your team.

Thanks for the help on mine.

unless you are dead set on trading him...I just wouldnt. nobody is gonna give you good value & he should be back a little after AS break...a half season with Hamilton could pay BIG dividends if you can stand the wait.

i think Pence will fall back 2 earth & doubt you could get Mauer (who i also think will have his power numbers dip but will keep hitting well over 300 of course)

good luck....personally id stay put....but if you can pull Mauer thats the best option

thx for help on mine

im not sure what your keeper system is, but in any scenario, a bottom-feeding team is gonna be keeping mauer. if you're in an auction league, mauer was undoubtedly drafted for a very low price and becomes a ridiculous keeper for next year. I would go for ichiro off of that list. he is vastly superior to abreu, the 2nd best player.
