Now that the amateur draft is over, and teams won't have to forfeit a pick for signing Sheets, how quickly will he be signed? Who, other then Texas, might emerge as a possible landing spot, and any chance he gets a Major League contract and not a minor league deal this year (meaning he'll be DL eligible)? Thanks in advance.

Well, the draft isn't actually over until tomorrow. Paul Byrd us another one eligible to be signed now though without the same fantasy potential as Sheets.
I'd love to stash him but with the DL designation, it's tough. I just remember what this guy did last year and I'm wondering when he's worth adding (non-keeper). I haven't heard anything about what kind of shape he's in right now. Any details?

Whether that's water cooler speculation or not, I'm glad to at least hear an opinion on the matter Do you think he gets a minor league or major league deal? How long, remainder of the season? This season and next? I could honestly see a team in the playoff hunt in need of pitching like Texas, or the Mets, or perhaps someone else signing him to a Major league deal just to make sure they get him as opposed to others interested in him, but only interested enough to offer him a minor league deal wit incentives. Also, any chance a team NOT in contention, signs him with the hopes he throws 1 month or so of really good baseball and they lose him at the end of the season in order to get a comp pick in return? Thanks for any thoughts.
Well I think Texas is the most likely case if they stay in contention. The Brewers are not in the mix as there seems to be some bad blood there.
At this point it is just too hard to say because we don't have a plausible timetable for his return. It is still a possibility that he won't be back at all this year which is why I doubt he signs a major league deal until they are pretty sure he is healthy. I don't think he'd sign a minor league deal but it is hard to say.
I bet he wishes he had just taken arbitration at this point though!
