Ichiro for Phillips? WHIR

Postby metsfan12 » Wed Jun 10, 2009 11:45 am

5x5 12 team roto with my team below. I am about 0.10 ahead of the next best guy in average so I am looking to move Ichiro for that reason mostly. Also, I'd be able to get Bourn into my lineup more with this trade. Right now I am platooning Hairston and Kennedy at 2b based on matchups and holding Kendrick hoping he gets it going sometime later this season.

C Mauer
1b Branyan
2b Hairston Jr.
3b Arod
SS Jeter
OF Braun
OF C. Lee
OF Ichiro
Util Damon
Bench: Bourn, Kendrick, Adam Kennedy, Nick Johnson
DL Delgado

I would definitely trade Ichiro for Phillips.

You can afford to do it and you really need help at 2B, so I would do this absolutely.

Ok, secondary question. I am going to do this trade and I think it helps both teams, but I am going to wait until later to make the offer. Ichiro is going to be going up against Chris Young in SD next week and if he gets on base should be looking to run every time. Do you agree it is worth waiting to get those games from Ichiro? They actually play SD twice this month but won't face Chris Young the 2nd time around by my estimate of the rotation.

Eh, sure. Just keep in mind that you take the risk of something happening over the next week besides that too.

It is just as likely, or even more likely, that Phillips gets hurt in that time as it is Ichiro does. Of course, Phillips could hit 3 hr and the guy not want to do the deal but oh well.

I realize it sounds a little out there to hold off on a trade just because of an upcomming matchup but look at Ichiro's freakin numbers vs Chris Young:
8/21 (.381), 5 BB, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 7 SB, 1CS, 0K........dream matchup
