Offered Braun...WHIR

Postby fan of the cubs » Tue Jun 09, 2009 2:43 am

10 TEAM H2H

R, RBI, HR, SB, OBP

C - Mccann
1B - Howard
2B - Hudson
3B - Longoria
SS - Zobrist
OF - Choo
OF - Lind
OF - Span
Ut - Vlad

Bench - Inge, Scutaro

SP - Haren
SP - Burnett
RP - Lidge
RP - Franklin
P - Rodney
P - Wilson

Bench - Jackson, Rodriguez, Lester

Was offered Braun for Scutaro and Mccann.

Who should I pick up though? And shouldn't I drop an OF, since I'll have 5, plus Zobrist who also has OF eligibility? So thats 2 possible FA to sign, 3 if I dump 2 OF.

Top available FAs:

Konerko, Chris Davis, Bengie Molina, Tulowitzki, Atkins, Bailey, Bourn, Kuroda, N. Johnson, Millwood, Luke Scott, Porcello, Crisp, Howell

I'd accept that in a heartbeat. Just slide Inge into the C spot. The upgrade from your weakest outfielder to Braun is greater than the downgrade from McCann to Inge.

You don't have to drop an outfielder. 5 is not too many ... that's 4 OFers in your lineup and 1 on the bench. Bench depth is something every manager has their own feelings about. If you don't like just 1 bench hitter, I'd pick a guy with 2nd half breakout potential. Someone like Tulo or Davis. I think you have enough RPs, but you could dominate the category (and help out WHIP/ERA) by picking up Bailey. There's not really any excuse for him to be a FA anymore ... he's clearly the A's closer. I like Kuroda the best of the FA SPs.

Yeah I wanted to pick up Bailey even before he became the A's closer because of his strikeouts, whip and era. Plus he has SP eligibility so I could start 5 relievers on the days when I only have 1 true starter pitching. Would be nice to trade one of my closers at some point, but its real hard to make trades in my league. And yeah Kuroda would probably be solid too, but then I would have nobody on my bench.

Agree on the trade.

Pick up Scott or Konerko. Scott is hot now, but will eventually cool off. Konerko is steady eddie.

Please help.

Great deal for you, Scutaro is a joke and will come crashing back down to earth just as Braun is cracking his 30th homer. McCann is a nice player but you can replace his stats.

Help with mine?
