BJ Ryan a closer no more..? Same fate for Morrow?

Anyone know anything about this guy...? Is he forever out of a closing job? Is he close to getting it back? is he wasting my spot on my roster? Same goes for morrow. Is he gonna get his job back from Aardasma? I really hope these guys are wasting my spot =(.

I honestly don't see either of them getting the closing job back this year -- and that's been pretty clear for a while now. Morrow has a better shot than Ryan, but that's only if he somehow straitens himself up. Downs has been excellent though, so I think he keeps that job for the Jays.

I can speak for the Jays situation... I don't see any way that Downs gives up the job.

It would take a combination of Downs REALLY struggling (maybe as many as 3-5 bad outings w/ a BS) and Ryan really showing improvements over that time. In a vacuum right now, I don't even know if BJ is next in line (he probably is, but it's no slam dunk... that's how fall he has fallen).

Agreed. No way does Ryan get the closer job back short of a HUGE implosion from Downs, who's been VERY solid so far this season.

I wouldn't hold out hope for Ryan, but I'm still not buying into Aardsma. Aardsma's walk rate is still on the high side and his career to date does not paint a pretty picture. On top of that, the Mariners likely won't be making a push for the West, so I'd imagine the M's at somepoint will give Morrow a chance to get re-acclimated to the closer role, seeing how they removed him from the rotation to be their long term closer coming into the season.

I've done dropped the bum who's been decomposing on my bench the past couple months in my 12-team league. I've hung onto him this long for fear that Downs would implode which doesn't look like will happen.

Morrow is going back to AAA to get stretched out... not sure who is now the next most likely candidate to replace Aardsma when his awful walk rate causes him to fall flat on his face.
