6 Pitchers slotted for tomorrow.. who to start? WHIR

Postby master_herm » Sun Jun 07, 2009 1:00 am

Alright team, here's the situation:

I have the edge in ERA, 2.08 to 3.29, and WHIP, 1.06 to 1.37, after roughly 40 innings from both of us. He has Lincecum and Porcello going tomorrow. I'm up one Q (quality start), and he's up 11 K.

For tomorrow, I can start:

Slowey @ Seattle
Nolasco @ SF
Jimenez @ Stl
Hanson @ Mil
Garza @ NYY
Joba @ TB

I figure if I start all of em (I can because Joba is RP eligible), I have a decent chance at blowing either my sterling ERA and WHIP and losing one (or both!) of those two cats. However, I lock up Q and and have a good chance at winning K.

If I start none, then I lock up ERA/WHIP but will likely lose or at least tie Q, and won't have a shot at K.

SO... I only want to start guys who will have a good start, to balance this out and hopefully sweep all 4 cats. My question to you is obvious:

WHO DO I START???

To make this a simpler question, just ignore all the stats I said. Basically it just comes down to which, of the 6, you think will have a decent start and which you think will get shelled. Thanks!

Thanks for mine.

LOL I can't even answer your question because it's almost exactly the same as mine and idk what to do yet. I will bump it for you though.

I would only start two of them Slowey and Jimenez. You won't catch him on K unless you start a lot of players then you run a real chance of blowing your era or whip wins. You either start both or neither of the Yanks/TB I would go with neither. Nolasco has to show me something in the majors before I would start him again. Hanson no need to start him yet let him sit on the bench until he shows what he has against major league hitters.

Thanks for the help... I ended up starting all of em, and right now I'm up 11 K and still hold a .35 edge in ERA and 0.30 edge in WHIP. Sitting Nolasco as the chances of Lincecum posting 11+ K (and I still have Slowey going) are pretty remote, however I may end up losing ERA.

Too bad about Hanson - here's to hoping he can still be a productive starter given all the hype!
