Kinsler for Ramirez

Postby Mike2006 » Sat Jun 06, 2009 9:46 am

I was offered Ian Kinsler for Hanley Ramirez. I have a few good back up SS (furcal and Tejada) but no good second baseman. I am not sure if Kinsler's start to the year was a lucky or if he will be able to continues is good start. I put my team below, it is a head to head league with the standard 5x5 scoring. Also any other help with the team would be appreciated as I am currently in 7th.

C Chris Snyder
1B Prince Fielder
2B Freddy Sánchez
3B Russell Branyan
SS Rafael Furcal
OF Juan Pierre
OF Mike Cameron
OF Hunter Pence
Util Hanley Ramírez
BN Vernon Wells
BN Kosuke Fukudome
BN Miguel Tejada
BN Vladimir Guerrero
BN Pat Burrell

SP Tim Lincecum
SP Jake Peavy
RP Huston Street
RP David Aardsma
P Félix Hernández
P Ryan Dempster
P Chris Pérez
BN Randy Johnson

Tough call but IMO and some may not agree with me I would go ahead and take Kinsler. He's a stud and will continue to post solid numbers across the board. He not only has power but he can swipe tha bags as well. Kinslers BA is lower but can Hanley keep up a 335 avg all year. It is a tough call though and you may want to shop Hanley around to see if you can get a decent 2b and ss in return. Maybe throw in another player in a 2 for 2 deal .

Hope this helps and good Luck

I wouldn't do this deal.

Historically, Ramirez is a giant producer. Kinsler definitely was on fire earlier this year, but just look at what Hanley does in first half vs. second half:

(click for source)

Career 1st half: .309 avg, .890 OPS
Career 2nd half: .313 avg, .939 OPS

I also think the SS position is the weakest in the league, you'd have position dominance. Don't know how deep your league is, but there are other 2B out there right now that look good. Maybe Kennedy, Uggla, Phillips, Zobrist (JUMP on him if available), to name just a few.

Then, that would allow you to dump Furcal and Tejada and use those spots to take a flyer on some SP to keep on the bench for spot starts.

Help with mine?

I just woke up and was drinking my 1st cup of coffee and neglected to look at career stats. sweettortilla's post is solid information that I should have looked into before replying to this post. I still like Kinsler but when looking over the stats it's easy to see who will really post the solid numbers at the end of the year. I would take sweettortilla's advice and not mine. Good job sweettortilla for posting the information I neglected to look into. ;-D

Hanley is the best fantasy player IMO.

Stay put.

The trade has potential based on your needs. Hanley's more valuable though. Send him a counter offer and ask for an upgrade at another position. Argue that Hanley has more of a proven track record and that Kinsler is an injury risk.
