Pick up Pence, drop Werth? WHIR!!

Postby thejusman1 » Fri Jun 05, 2009 7:02 pm

An owner dropped Pence to pick up Branyan (WHY!?!) and so I'm considering putting in a claim for him. But I'm having trouble deciding whether or not I even need Pence. I recently added Hanson with Josh Hamilton going to the DL. I have no idea who I'd drop here to pick Pence up.

10 Team League, H2H Daily Lineup Change
Hitting cats: R, RBI, HR, SB, CS, AVG, OBP, SLG, K
Pitching cats: ERA, WHIP, K/9, K, W, L, SV, BSV, IP

Roster:
C - Yadier Molina
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Ian Kinsler
3B - David Wright
SS - Stephen Drew
OF - B.J. Upton
OF - Adam Jones
OF - Ben Zobrist
Util - Jayson Werth
DL - Chris Iannetta, Josh Hamilton

SP - Hamels, Billingsley, Lackey, Erv, Edwin Jackson, Mark Buehrle, Harang, Hanson
RP - Bell, Fuentes, Street, Franklin.

Please don't leave advice telling me to drop an active closer, like "Street because his job isn't secure," or "franklin because he's going to lose it." Saves are competitive in this league, you just don't drop active closers.

Since you seem intent on keeping Street, I'd drop Drew for him. Move Zobrist to SS. Werth's considerably more valuable than Drew, IMO.

In no way would I drop Werth. I am not a Pence fan and would probably stand pat. If you have to have him, then I suppose I agree with the above re Drew...the only problem is I think Drew is going to turn it around and have a big second half.

Agree with the consensus here. Pence is definitely worth picking up and in your case right now Drew is the most droppable player.

However, if it was me.... I'd probably look to drop one of your SPs or move Zobrist or something along those lines, since I feel like Drew will eventually turn things around.

My thoughts exactly. Drew is the most expendable batter, but if it were me, I'd prob drop a SP as you have more than enough

I picked up Pence and dropped Drew. Once Iannetta comes back, I'm really pumped about this lineup. Iannetta, Fielder, Kinsler, Wright, Zobrist, Jones, B.J., Pence, Werth. Now all I need is Hamilton...

You couldn't pass on Pence. I still don't understand why he was dropped (owner not happy with .350 average?). I'd probably quickly turn around and trade him - as hot as he is and since your OF is very crowded.
