Who to keep? WHIR 100%

Postby Hit Factory » Fri Jun 05, 2009 2:35 pm

Hey there, I am in my first keeper league this year. I can keep 3 players for next season, the question is who should I retain?
Here are my options...remember I can only keep 3. Thanks and WHIR QUICKLY 100% *I know its early to start thinking about who to keep but I am just curious as to what you all think at this point in the season*
1.)Sizemore
2.) B.J. Upton
3.)Youkilis
4.)Carlos Lee
5.)Dunn
6.)Billingsley
7.)Hamels

at this point, based on how the year shakes out, sizemore, billingsley and upton. A lot could change - we'll see how sizemore comes back from injury, if upton gets his power back, and if hamels turns it around. Hamels could realistically keep pitching like he did last night and overtake billingsley.

i don't keep pitchers, they are too volatile from year to year, so i'd keep the top 3 you have listed. if you like keeping pitchers i could see subbing billingsley for either youk or upton.

thanks for answering mine

this is tough b/c as you stated, it's still really early and things can change by the end of the year. BUT, if the year ended now, I'd go:

1. Sizemore - no brainer (unless this injury keeps him out for more than a year...)
2a. Youk - 3B is a really shallow position & if he's eligible there still, he's got a lot of value
2b. BJ - he's still young and has speed. We know he's got some pop in the bat (saw it in the playoffs) and if he can find that, it'd be tough to not hold onto.
3. Bills - STUD pitcher (If Hamels is back to last night's stuff, then I'd rank him above Bills)

Sizemore, Lee(always underated high 2nd rder) and depends on how the rest of the season unfolds Upton or Youk.

Only 3 means there is no point on keeping a pitcher as it will be easier to draft them
