My CC for Zimmerman...thinking about the future

Postby SpeakerDaad » Fri Jun 05, 2009 1:24 pm

Hello everyone - I inherited a team in a standard roto scoring yahoo keeper league and it's a kind of a disaster (8th out of 10). This year is shot so I need to start thinking about a plan for next year.

I was proposed the following trade from the current league champion (who is also in 1st place this year).

I give up:
CC Sabathia
Ryan Franklin

I receive:
Ryan Zimmerman

Here's my current team:

Batting
C Russell Martin
1B Prince Fielder
2B Dan Uggla
3B Mike Lowell
SS J.J. Hardy
CI Adrián Béltre
MI Stephen Drew
OF Álex Ríos
OF Ryan Ludwick
OF Elijah Dukes
OF Carlos Beltrán
Util Hank Blalock
BN Cristian Guzmán
BN Garrett Atkins
BN Jake Fox
DL Asdrubal Cabrera

Pitching
SP Chad Billingsley
SP Mark Buehrle
SP CC Sabathia
RP Trevor Hoffman (Mil - RP)
RP Rafael Soriano
P Ryan Franklin
P Andrew Bailey
BN Joe Saunders
BN John Lackey
DL Scott Kazmir

No question that this favors the league champ in the short run and again I am thinking about the long run soooooo.....Young stud players are in a premium in this league and Franklin would not be a keeper so (imo) it boils down to CC for Zimmerman. Is Zimmerman for real? What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.

that's not a good trade now or in the future. you can do much better if you plan on selling CC and franklin.

I love the future-planning trades. I do think Zim is for real, but he's not Evan Longoria, David Wright, or Arod. Maybe a mid 3rd rounder, or 4th rounder, if I can use draft-style valuation. CC, meanwhile, is 2nd-3rd round in terms of value. I'd say keep CC. Also, I wouldn't yet give up on this season! It's not "still early" but the season is only 1/3 through, and you have some guys there who could really boost you in the coming months. Ludwick, Beltran, Beltre, and Dukes aren't producing up to their levels right now. I think they'll turn it around, you could be in the race! You already have a solid pitching stable.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought but I wanted other opinions. I just nixed the trade.

simps984, I'll check out your thread!
