Blockbuster Trade, opinions? WHIR

Postby simps984 » Fri Jun 05, 2009 1:19 pm

OK so my league is a keeper, standard 5x5, but with OBP over AVG. My team is doing well, first in power and rbi, but needs steals, could use a bump in OBP. I have four closers and am doing pretty well in saves so far. Here's the deal: If you like my side of the trade, please explain why, and maybe provide a number 1-10 of how beneficial you think this deal is for my team, knowing only about my needs, and that the league is a keeper.

I lose:
Justin Upton
Matt Wieters
Chris Davis
Dan Uggla
David Aardsma

I get:
Nick Markakis
Ian Kinsler
Chone Figgins

EDIT: Full roster:
C Wieters
1 Fielder
2 Uggla
3 Davis
SS J Reyes (DL) / Jerry Hairston
INF Morneau
OF Dunn
OF Damon
OF J. Upton
OF Bourn
Util Luke Scott
Bench J Cust
Bench G Beckham

SP: Scott Baker, J Johnson, J Vazquez, G Meche, T Hanson
RP: J Soria, D Aardsma, B Jenks, S Downs

I get to keep 5...

showing your full roster and the number of keepers would really help. getting markakis and kinsler is nice without giving up any real studs

agreed. You're getting a top 2B and top OF. I love trading a handful of "good" players for fantasy a couple studs.

I like the trade a lot if you have backup plans for your lost positions.

You are getting back the best players in the deal however you are giving up some exciting young guys as well. Especially in a keeper league losing Weiters/Upton/Chris Davis will hurt but I still like the guys you are getting in this trade. I think you came out ontop any way you look at it.

Help with mine?

Little late here, but I promised to chime in....

This is not a terribly easy decision but overall I think it's a good deal for you. Upton is nice but the others are unproven (but damn, talk about potential upside!) and you are getting 2 legit / proven keepers. Do it.

I going to agree with most that you're getting a great deal here. You'd receive 2 very good fantasy players, who are both still fairly young, for mainly a group of guys with potential. That potential is always tempting, but there are many guys who just don't live up to it in the long term.

Given the 2 huge players you'd be getting in return, I think you should take this deal. Even if Wieters, Davis, etc live up to theit hype, Markakis and Kinsler have shown what they can do consistently and that's the key in my mind.

Do it without hesitation. Weiters/Upton aren't keepers, not with Morneau, Kinsler, Markakis, Reyes, and a competition between Fielder/Baker/Josh Johnson. You're upgrading your keepers and your team. Great trade.
