Need some trade suggestions: WHIR

Postby Airborne24 » Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:11 am

12 Team standard ESPN mixed league, 5x5 scoring. I'm in 10th place. I asked a question about who to start tonight in the other forum, but need some trade help too.

After getting slaughtered in HR, RBI and SV every week, I mortgaged my pitching by trading King Felix and Ubaldo Jiminez for Prince Fielder and Matt Lindstrom. I'm not concerned about grades for this trade, because it had to be done. My problem is, that leaves me with 5 CI for 4 spots. Out of the following 3, I'd like to trade for an outfielder, who do you think I should trade, and which OF would represent equal value for them?

Derrek Lee
Mike Lowell
Nick Johnson

C Mike Napoli
1B Prince Fielder
2B Orlando Hudson
3B Chone Figgins
SS Hanley Ramirez
MI Louis Castillo
CI Mike Lowell
OF Jason Kubel
OF Nick Swisher
OF Gary Sheffield
OF Nate McLouth
UT Derrek Lee
BN Nolan Reimold
BN Nick Johnson
DL Josh Hamilton
Purgatory: Manny Ramirez

P Cliff Lee
P AJ Burnett
P Wandy Rodriguez
P Randy Wells
P Andy Pettite
P Zach Duke
P Barry Zito
P Antonio Bastardo
P Kevin Gregg
P Matt Lindstrom

Well, I'd put all three out there and see what offers you get. I like them in the order you listed them - Lee, Lowell, Johnson.

But Lee's big name might net you a bigger player. Maybe Brad Hawpe?

I'd try to deal Lowell for a Sin Soo Choo-type maybe.

Help if you can?

I agree to start with Lee as he has the biggest name value...and he's actually been starting to hit lately. Honestly, I think you might be able to net someone a little better than Hawpe, but even that wouldnt' be that bad.

I'd target someone who has a weak 1B slot as you have an abundance of players there and offer Lee for an OF.

thanks for helping with mine

I agree here....I would post all 3 and see what you get. I would also rank them by Lee, Lowell, Johnson.....but like the others said Lee has the bigger name sake so he will net you more profit. Lowell would be next because he has done well and Johnson I'm not sure if you would be able to land much for him.

I couldn't really tell you who to go after as I am not the other teams and don't know who they have on their teams.....plus everyone ranks their players differently. If you want though....post the teams that need help in that area and who have an abundance of OF's and then we can analyze the situation better for you.

Good luck and let us know or if you want to private message me and I'll help you out.

The guy I'm playing right now has Konerko starting at 1B and Teahan starting at CI, neither is someone i'd want, but he already shot down my DLee for Carlos Quentin trade, even with Quentin on the DL. his team is looking like this right now, since he has Aramis Ramirez and Quentin on the DL/bench: Fukudome, Vernon Wells, Hideki Matsui, Ellsbury and Cuddyer.

Another guy has Hank Blalock at the CI slot (who I wouldn't personally want...) but his outfielders are Hart, Pence, Bruce, Rios, Vlad and Nyjer Morgan.

Another guy, who actually has a glut of starters, has Chris Davis at his CI spot. I know Davis has the power, but he's hitting what, .020? He's got Damon, Crawford, Cameron, Ben Francisco and Magglio on his roster as OF and Util, and he's about to get Bartlett back from the DL. He does, however, have Lincecom, Price, Wainright, Hamels, Peavy, Washburn, Kawakami, Zimmermann and Brandon Webb on the DL. Maybe I could try and pry a starter from this guy who I could flip for an OF?

Then there is the guy in our league (12 teams, $100 a team) who is so horribly bad at fantasy baseball it's laughable. He is in last place by 4 miles, and he has Adam Laroche, Andy Laroche, and Bonifacio starting at 1,3 and CI. He's got Cust, Markakis, BJ Upton and Carlos Lee as OF, and Milton Bradley on the Bench. I tried getting Upton for Lowell already and got denied.

That was long rambling garbage, and I dont know if it helps but... what OFers on your rosters would you trade for Lee, Lowell or Nick Johnson?
