Batters on the FA....yes/no?

Postby SauberF1 » Thu Jun 04, 2009 10:55 am

Hey I still new to fantasy baseball so if these are seemingly simple questions...my bad.

12 Team H2H, non-keeper with 10 stats (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP)

On FA there are a few guys I was thinking of picking up
Jerry Hairston Jr. (2B, 3B, SS, OF)
Adrian Beltre (3B)
David Ortiz (Util)

Things I'm not sure about is whether JH Jr is now a starter. I remember reading he was just filling in for everyone that was injured and remains in because he was hot offensively. Has he solidified his role on the team or is he only a temporary option? <------ Thinking of dropping F. Lopez for him

A. Beltre looks like he gets a solid number of bats. His average is better and he could give me an occasional stolen base (everything else is similar). However, I do notice that Davis is rocking 12HRs so far, which is much higher than Beltre (so I lose out on HRs but gain in .avg in my league format). <------ Should I still drop C. Davis for A. Beltre? Or will Davis pick it up later in the season?

D. Ortiz seems to be improving is this a good time to stash him on my bench? Or is it too much of a risk and I should wait for some more tangible news?

My Roster
Batters
C - J. Mauer (C)
1B - A. Pujols (1B)
2B - C. Figgins (2B, 3B)
3B - C. Davis (1B, 3B)
SS - F. Lopez (2B, 3B, SS, OF)
OF - J. Bay (OF)
OF - A. Soriano (OF)
OF - C. Crawford (OF)
Util - C. Beltran (OF)
BN - R. Furcal (SS)
BN - J. Werth (OF)
BN - P. Sandoval (C, 1B, 3B)

Pitchers
SP - J. Lackey (SP)
SP - C. Lee (SP)
RP - M. Lindstrom (RP)
RP - D. Aardsma (RP)
P - R. Troncoso (RP)
P - J. Frasor (RP)
P - J. Weaver (SP)
BN - E. Jackson (SP)

I would stay away from Ortiz for a while. Even as a BoSox fan it pains me to say I think hes broken.

Davis is smashing the ball, and although the strikeouts and AVG are a bit ugly, they will turn around (will hit like .245 ish by the end of the year I reckon). Beltre will have some solid RBI opportunities in the M's offense, so it all depends on your choice of flavor (AVG/HR) and moreover, now or later. Davis will probably turn it around, _probably_

I am pretty sure Hairston will have the job, so you can make that move accordingly if you desire.

Davis has been a Fantasy team killer this year and at this point I would insert Beltre into his spot until Davis sees better days.

Ortiz, cant justify picking him up, he looks broken
