Reynolds/Choo for Mariano Rivera trade, help needed! WHIR!!

Postby FantasyStud » Wed Jun 03, 2009 8:25 pm

Hey all,

I'm in a Keeper League 5x5 categories, 10 teams, Roto Scoring
I'm in 3rd place, 16.5 points out of second and 17.5 points out of first
One of my weakest areas is in saves.

C-Bengie Molina
1B-Ryan Howard
2B-Dan Uggla
SS- (empty for now)
3B-Mark Reynolds
OF-Magglio Ordonez
OF-Curtis Granderson
OF-Jacoby Ellsbury
OF-Johnny Damon
OF-Andre Ethier
UTL-Miguel Cabrera (only 1B eligible)
UTL-Shin-Soo Choo
DL-Jason Bartlett
DL-Jose Reyes

P-CC Sabathia
P-Justin Verlander
P-Wandy Rodriguez
P-John Lackey
P-Ryan Dempster
P-Gil Meche
P-Joakim Soria
P-Francisco Rodriguez
P-LaTroy Hawkins
BN-David Price
BN-Mark Buehrle
BN-Clayton Richard

Prospect-Carlos Carasco
Prospect-David Price
Prospect-Matt Wieters
Prospect-Dexter Fowler
Prospect-Brett Anderson
Prospect-Pedro Alvarez

I have 26 saves on the year (most teams are nearing 40, some already over 40 saves) and as a result, I only have 2.5 / 10 points for saves. Since Joakim Soria just returned, this will surely help, however, I still need a lot of saves to make up ground and would like to add a third closer.

The trade would be:

I give up my 3B Mark Reynolds and my UTL Shin-Soo Choo
I get P Mariano Rivera and 3B Pablo Sandoval

If I made this trade, I would then make two follow up moves:

(a) Drop LaTroy Hawkins (who is a temporary solution), Add Matt Wieters. Wieters is my prospect and I have control of him regardless of whether or not he is on my team. Wieters would be my utility player and essentially replace Choo's spot in my lineup.

(b) Drop Clayton Richard (after tonight's start), Add a SS since Jose Reyes had a setback. I will try to add Marco Scutaro once he clears waivers, or Jhonny Peralta, Christian Guzman, or the likes until Reyes/Bartlett return.

The pros to this trade is that with K-Rod, Rivera, and Soria, I have three of the best closers and this will surely help my team in gaining saves. The cons to this trade are that I'm giving up a lot of offense in Reynolds and Choo. While Reynolds and Choo are far from the best fantasy assets, they certainly help me in scoring and driving in runs.

Thanks so much for your help! WHIR I promise 100%

bump

At first I wasn't sure, but I think I'm going to accept this deal. Before I do, if you could just leave a simple "yes" or "no" giving your opinion then that would be really helpful in convincing myself one way or the other! Thanks, and WHIR!
