My E. Santana for Tejada? WHIR

Postby angels7777 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 7:45 pm

I know Santana is kind of a buy low and Tejada is a sell high, but is this trade worth making since Reyes had yet another set back..... or should I stick with O-Cab for now?

Ehh. I really don't like Tejada and Reyes is an elite SS down the line when he gets healthy. However, Ervin has been absolute crap during his last 2 starts (I got him in a league as well). Was the trade offered to you? I'd prolly wait and see how Ervin does in his next start, and if he gets blown up again I'd be quick on the drop and accept it b4 the guy can delete it ;). Cuz right now ervin has very minimal value, I'd probably stay pat.

I wish I knew the answer to these questions as well, as I own both of them myself :)

If this is a short-term trade, and you don't care about long term consequences, then go for it. Tejada has been hot all year and Ervin looks like something's still physically very wrong with him. You'll get production from Tejada every week - steady is comforting.

Longer term, if (and I realize these are bigger IFs) Reyes gets back soon you'll have no need for Tejada. Can Ervin recover from his injury? If Santana had a hope of returning to last season form...man, it'd be tough to let him go.

I think I would wait another day before making a move, they will have a better reading on what happened to reyes by tomorrow. Now if the case of Reyes is staying on DL for long term, then i guess the best case scenario would perhaps to make the move. Tejeda is not an elite we know that, but he has been good this year and is in a potentially potent lineup. O-Cab just wont cut it in my case. You can also take that route the previous poster has said to...but... I would think thats kinda screwed up. Nonetheless, I would wait it out and if news is bad, pull the trig.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I'd do that deal. Your pitching is decent enough without what you've probably projected for Santana anyway.

And if Reyes gets back healthy soon, you can sell high on Tejada.
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!

I say do it. you need to upgrade your SS and santana might not contribute anything this year. also, I have to assume that there is a better free agent pitcher available on the free agent list that you could drop cabrera for. I'm sure that there are no free agent short stops available on the free agent list that could drop santana for (if santana turned out to be droppable).

whose your best free agent pick up and view the trade that way, santana and cabrera versus tejada and free agent pick up.

yeah do it back up reyes, screw santana... what if he's a bum all year? your staff will be fine without him....

tejeda is old, but no one really knows his age, he could be 27 he could be 39!

this guy really wants pitching so I'm thinking I could maybe ask for Downs in the deal as well in hopes that he keeps the closer role? He also has Scott, Rios, and Abreu who could probably all help my team at the moment -

my first offer to him was Lee/Santana for Rios/Tejada, but it was rejected

he rejected my proposal of Santana for Tejada/Downs? He basically wants Tejada straight up for Santana so he can plug Scott into his UTIL spot
