So it took them 2 months to decide to release him right before he was to return. I am curious why they released him. He did well in his rehab start. It is really a slap in the face to Glavine not to mention Hanson could have been up weeks ago.

You had no one else to drop?
Already had Posada, and Iannetta on the DL. I would have dropped Iannetta, but since he was in DL slot, I still would have had to drop someone else to make room, and there wasn't enough time to work out a 2 for 1 type trade...time was not on my side!
My offensive bench consists of Abreu and Vlad, and didn't want to drop one of them.
As for pitchers, I could have dropped Randy Johnson or Porcello, but our WW is so scarce of quality SP, that I felt it best to keep all of my pitching staff intact for now.
Essentially, Wieters would have been sitting on my bench unless Posada went down, so it had the least effect on my team (at least I think so!).

Because a 37 year old catcher who only played in 51 games last year and less then 30 so far this year is a picture of health? That's some high stakes gambling.
