Nathan for Carp & M.Young, WHIR

League info: 14 teams, keeper league, keep 17 players each year, 5x5 roto, 1250 inning limit which I'm currently on pace to go over by about 50 innings, start LF, CF and RF.

Team:
C Mauer, 1B Pujols, 2B Roberts, 3B Wright, SS Young, LF Abreu, CF Rios, RF Bruce, UT M.Cabrera
BN J.Pierre, D.Young, G.Beckham
SP R.Halladay, D.Haren, J.Peavy, J.Beckett, E.Bedard, C.Carpenter, T.Hudson, C.Buchholz, N.Feliz
RP T.Hoffman, F.Rodney, M.Lindstrom, K.Gregg

Would you trade Carpenter and Young for Nathan? My thoughts are Young needs to be traded by the beginning of next season because he'll only be eligible at 3B and will be blocked by Wright and Cabrera. I have too many starters as it is and Carpenter is stuck on my DL (I don't have anyone I feel like I can drop to activate Carpenter). Trading for a top closer lets me get some quality stats without using tons of innings, plus my RPs are the weak point on my team. I have a good enough offense to lose Young at SS for the rest of the year, although that's still something to consider, and will hurt me. My options at SS are to have the other team throw in either Y.Escobar or R.Theriot and then I'd have to include either Pierre, Lindstrom or Gregg. Or I can hold off on this trade until Beckham gets called up, which could be soon. I can also ask for draft picks if trading Young is too much of a hassle with only getting Nathan in return.

What do you think? Thanks!

You don't want to drop Tim Hudson to activate Chris Carpenter who is probably throwing better right now than he did in his CY young season????

Hudson's also on the DL right now, so dropping him wouldn't help. We have 23 active spots and 2 DL spots, since Carpenter went on the DL, I've managed to fill all my 23 spots with players that I believe are undroppable in a 14 team keeper league. Although I do have to admit that the strength of my SP and the fact that I'm burning through innings too quickly has made it a lot easier to be forced to keep Carp on the DL.

What do you think about the trade though? Thanks.

While I'm not entirely sure what the value of this trade is st8 up, its obv helps your team. Your SP is sooooo money for a 14 teamer. Like you said, your on track to go a little over you Max innings so this doesn't hurt you too much. Sucks tho Carp is pitching lights out, but I still like this trade giving the make up of your team and his injury history.
