Just Lost Sizemore/Hamilton-3 Ideas to Save the Season. WHIR

Postby jmcampbe11 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:56 pm

EDIT - THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK GUYS. I JUST PULLED THE TRIGGER ON ZOBRIST/JOYCE FOR CHOO/KUBEL. I PICKED UP J.LOPEZ TO FILL IN FOR ZOBRIST. SEEMS LIKE A GOOD MOVE, PLUS I DIDN'T HAVE TO GIVE UP ONE OF MY THREE POTENTIAL KEEPERS. THOUGHTS?

10 team roto league (we keep 3 players each season). I'm in 1st place, but just lost Hamilton/Sizemore. With that mind let me know your thoughts on these trade ideas to try and salvage the season. Good moves? Realistic offers?, etc.

TRADE IDEA 1
Offer Zobrist for C.Hart or J.Pierre
I'd pick up either J.Lopez or Tulowitzki to replace Zobrist.

TRADE IDEA 2
Offer Zobrist for Choo
I'd pick up either J.Lopez or Tulowitzki to replace Zobrist.

TRADE IDEA 3
Offer Sizemore/Zobrist for Youkilis/Werth or Victorino
I'd pick up either J.Lopez or Tulowitzki to replace Zobrist. I'd be trading one of my keepers, but I'd still have Hamilton, Longoria and either Greinke or A.Gonzalez (keep 3) to consider.

MY TEAM
C-Martin 1b-A.Gonzalez 2b-Phillips ss-Alx.Ramirez CI-C.Jones MI-Zobrist Util-Reimold
OF-*SIzemore (Crisp), *Hamilton (Rivera or Joyce), Ludwick, Dye, Adm.Jones
SP-Greinke, Gallardo, Lilly, Jimenez, K.Escobar RP-Broxton, Qualls, B.Wilson, *Percival

My favorite of these ideas is #3. Keeping in mind that you're trying to win THIS season, and I just don't see Sizemore doing much for you.

Zobrist and Cruz are both hot, and they are both somewhat unproven historically. Youkilis is a stallion that produces. Seems like you get the *current* best player in that deal.

Good luck!

Easily trade idea #3 but I do not think he will accept that.

Assuming I'm overshooting in trade idea no. 3 what if I asked for Werth or Victorino instead of Cruz? More realistic? Still worth doing?

...and what are your thoughts on the other two trades?

I like option #2 the best actually, given it is a keeper. Shoo will offer you decent numbers all around. Sizemore could still help you team this year. I wouldnt give up such an asset in a keeper at this time. Shoo seems to be the right mix of helping your team still, but not losing long term value.

I myself would prefer NOT to give up Sizemore, so deal 3 would be out. #2 is fine, Choo is really underrated and undervalued, and while the season falls down around CLE, he is one of the guys who will not lose PT, be traded, etc. He has a very good shot at 20/20 or better. As far as keepers go, I might consider keeping Sizemore, Grienke, and AGonz over Hamilton, possibly. If you're an absolute believer that Hamilton will be healthy next year then I'd keep him, toss a coin on AGonz/Grienke. Might lean towards AGonz should he get traded. But yeah, deal #2 works best for me given the situation.

Peace,

Jah

What if trade 2 was Hamilton/Zobrist for Youkilis/Werth or Victorino. Instead of Sizemore I'd be giving up Hamilton. Also, keep in mind Longoria will DEFINITELY be one of my keepers too. Even if I trade Hamilton I might not have room for A-Gon.
