Which SS for the rest of the season?

Postby the izzy » Tue Jun 02, 2009 5:01 pm

I'm currently holding onto S. Drew and Zobrist. I want to drop some batting and grab some pitching (as my league counts IP as a category - which favors using a lot of SP).

10 team H2H league, redraft, 6x6 w/ the extra cats being OBP and IP.

Being a 10 team league, there are quite a few options for SS to decide from in the FA:
S. Drew*
B. Zobrist*
R. Furcal
T. Tulowitzki
Y. Escobar
C. Barmes
Guzman
Andrus
*currently on my roster

I think I'm leaning toward Furcal (as he's starting to heat up) + the SB from Furcal will help me team more than HR's from S. Drew.

My team:
C: Wieters
1B: Adrian Gonzalez
2B: C. Utley
3B: Alex Rodriguez
SS: Zobrist
OF: N. Cruz
OF: B. Abreu
OF: R. Ludwick
UTIL: Miguel Cabrera (1b/3b eligible)
BN: S. Drew (SS), C. Hart (OF), C. Quentin (OF), M. Ramirez (OF), C. Davis (1B/3B)

SP: Gallardo
SP: Bedard
RP: Qualls
RP: Francisco
P: H. Bell
P: J. Vazquez
P: M. Scherzer
BN: A. Harang, Felix Hernandez
DL: J. Valverde

So, I plan to drop both S. Drew, Zobrist and C. Davis and add Furcal plus 2 of the following SP:

Nolasco (said to be coming back up in a week)
B. Morrow (could find the CL role again this year)
Wang (looking good lately)
G. Floyd (3 straight QS)
J. Happ (looks decent)
T. Hanson (probably up around the ASB?)

anyway, thoughts?

Keep Drew and Zobrist and drop Chris Davis. He is dead weight and shouldn't be owned in a 10 team league.

Absolutely agree you should drop Davis (especially in OBP league, with Miggy to backup Arod!) and add Nolasco

Davis, Hart for Nolasco and Furcal or Hanson.
