Miggy for Pence/Bell

Postby Padres Fan » Tue Jun 02, 2009 12:18 pm

I am in a 12 team Auction style keeper league (we get to keep up to 8) in our 1st season, we have roto scoring. I hyave been need ing a closer since my relievers have been awful. No one else in the league besides the commisioner will give up any closer. We been trying to work a deal for my Miggy and Jair Jurrjens (too free up roster space) for Justin Upton,Adam Wainwright, Heath Bell, and Clayton Kershaw, that wad declined. Then I did Justin Upton/Heath Bell for Miggy that was declined as well and he says he will give up Hunter Pence. Well I countered for Miggy for Pence/Bell/Kershaw, but he countered with Pence Bell. He says like me he wont be able to keep Miggy at $47($260 auction draft cap). Bell and Pence will cost $14 and $20 respectivly and Bell will really help my pitching, and I think my offense can still hold together with Miggy gone,

Should I take his offer?

My Team.

Personally, I'd keep Miggy. So what if you can't afford him next year. Sometimes in keeper leagues we try to look ahead too often without focusing on the season at hand. Miggy is worth more that Pence & Bell IMO. and WHEN he keeps up his hitting, I'm sure there will be someone who will want to pay the price for him if you still want to sell.

However, if you dont think you can contend this year...then I might consider it, but would aim for Upton, not Pence.

thanks for the help with mine

He's not giving you enough. If he doesn't want to fork over Upton, hold on to him.

I sent a note saying I might consider a Upton/Bell trade.. I also sent a proposal for DeRosa/Werth/Verlander/Qualls for Miggy/Jurrjens, any thoughts on that?

I like that last deal you mentioned much much more. Pence just isn't enough even though I understand the salary cap seems to be in play here with Miggy. Might be able to spend that $20 in a better place than Pence. I think if you are in a position to win here then you just hanng onto Miggy and possibly try to move Orlando Hudson or Jurrjens for a lower tiered closer that he has.

Hey, thanks for the help with mine. I am in well versed on the auction leagues, however based on talent alone I would keep Miguel Cabrera, he is by far the best player in the deal and I don't like to break the bank for a closer.

I don't like it when the other guy starts throwing in more players than adding to the quality of the player included. If dealing with someone and that begins to happen I feel they are trying to look like they are giving more without really giving up much.

From this point forward, what would many expect to get out of Pence? Does he improve if/when Berkman gets on track? Its hard to value Pence really.
