B.J. Upton deal WHIR 100%

Postby Hit Factory » Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:34 am

This guy in my league has a mancrush on B.J. Upton, he has already offered me Ibanez...I turned it down, and Brandon Phillips...I rejected that as well. However I have formulated a few other ideas and I would love to know what you all think about them, thanks. WHIR QUICKLY 100%

1.) I give B.J. Upton and I get Manny

2.) I give B.J. Upton and I get Victorino and Carpenter or Lilly

3.) I give B.J. Upton and I get either Victorino/Ibanez and Carpenter or Lilly

I really like the Manny deal and also the third option. This guy wants B.J. Upton too much. I have him and the only thing he is worth is steals and runs, his batting average is crap.

I like deal C. Ibanez/Carp

Carpenter is an absolute stud and then you get Ibanez who is 2nd in the league in HRs and in the top 5 in RBIs.

Id do the Ibanez and Carpenter deal in a heartbeat. The only thing there is injury, but Ibanez is going to keep it up in that small park the rest of this year anyways. I think Upton is a year away anyways. I dont see him regaining his power this year. It just depends if you need steals. Thanks for the help on mine.

I would have taken either of those 2 deals he offered you, but if you can get more through one of those 3 you listed, by all means go for it. BJ Upton sucks. There, I said it. Assuming you can live without the steals (and in most leagues, that's only 1/10th MAX of your total points), he really doesn't contribute in any other meaningful way, save being serviceable in runs. Ibanez will help you in pretty much every category OTHER than steals. You're getting a great deal no matter how you slice it.

I couldn't agree more - all of those deals make you better, but I'm going Ibañez/Carpenter. Take one of 'em before the other dude wises up! ;-D

If he'll do Ibanez & Carp than he'll do Manny and Carp. Decide which combo you'd rather have and push it. I wouldn't want Carp though, He'll put up some good starts then get injured again. See if he'll give you someone more reliable instead.

I just wanted to thank everyone for your help! Some new developments, the other owner won't trade Carpenter, he has Brett Myers and needs the pitching. Also, I have Grady Sizemore and if he is out for an extended period I could not afford to lose his speed along with Upton's. I am thinking about taking the Upton for Brandon Phillips deal any thoughts?

My current offense:
Posada
Dunn
Aaron Hill
Youkilis
Callaspo
MI: Freddy Sanchez
CI: Branyan
Sizemore *injured
Carlos Lee
B.J. Upton
Dye
Bourn
Util: Billy Butler
BN: Mike Jacobs
