Which closer to cut? - Sherrill, Rodney, Capps, Franklin

Postby ezgoin92 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 9:29 pm

I'm thin due to injuries and need to pick up another OF to replace Josh Hamilton...
The question is - who do I cut? I'm leaning towards Sherrill, but really Capps has been nothing short of atrocious. I've only kept him because he's 'suppose' to be decent - but I'm really doubtful he will be.

This is a 12-Team H2H with 5X5 Scoring

Here's my roster:
C Mike Napoli (LAA - C)
1B James Loney (LAD - 1B)
2B Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
3B Álex Rodríguez (NYY - 3B)
SS Ben Zobrist (TB - 2B,SS,OF)
OF Adam Jones (Bal - OF)
OF Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF)
OF Shane Victorino (Phi - OF)
Util Brian Roberts (Bal - 2B)
BN Jason Bartlett (TB - SS)
DL Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)

Pitchers
Cliff Lee (Cle - SP)
Dan Haren (Ari - SP)
James Shields (TB - SP)
Zack Greinke (KC - SP)
Javier Vázquez (Atl - SP)
Chad Billingsley (LAD - SP)
Joakim Soria (KC - RP)
Matt Capps (Pit - RP)
George Sherrill (Bal - RP)
Fernando Rodney (Det - RP)
Ryan Franklin (StL - RP)

I say drop Rodney. He's like a Todd Jones, plus you have a lot of other strong closers.

I say sherrill or capps..Besides Zumaya at times, nobody in DET bullpen will take it from rodney any time soon...plus the manager likes rodney a lot..

Sherill and capps era will kill ya, and if johnson does good in AAA and sherill struggles, job might go to him..

Help me out please

Can't you do some kind of trade? Cutting a closer, especially in a 12 teamer, is just a waste. Are there other closers available right now in free agency?

Sherrill or Franklin. Capps is the best of bunch despite some bad outings.

;-D

I'd cut Sherrill personally. Franklin is holding his own and cutting some nice save Ops.

Sherrill....out of the bunch. I would try to make trade him first, I am sure he will get scooped up on the waiver. In an 12 team league, he is a hot commodity for some teams.
