Going after Burnette WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 9:21 pm

I think i have a shot to win it all this year but feel I need another solid SP. Im thinking about going after Burnette, he always seems to do much better in the 2nd half and has a top tier offence behind him this year. Im not wanting to really touch my lineup so Im thinking about offering up a 1st round pick for him. I also have Webb and Escobar coming back in a few weeks so hopefully that will also improve my pitching. Right now Im just hoping for some decent production from my lower tier guys after dealing Lincecum for Arod last week.

We keep 8 each year with no restrictions. Do you think Burnette would be a good addition? Should I be getting more for my 1st rounder?

ya as i said im trying to tread water here so to speak till webb comes back. hoping for a bit of help from escobar too.

dealing picks its kind of all over the map on what guys are willing to offer. i don't mind doing it as I have solid keepers and an extra few I can deal at the end of the year to lesser teams to try get my picks back.

I just figure in an 8 keeper 12 team league a first rounder is basically a player ranked around 100.

I would trade a 1st round pick for Burnett, but given his offense and talent, I don't know that A.J.'s owner will. Worth a try though, he will certainly help ur cause if ur able to bring him onboard. Here's mine, please take a look.

Any thoughts on if i tried for Crawford at the same time.......maybe Kemp/1st for Crawford/Burnette. Or should i stick with Kemps power/speed combo over crawfords speed?

Hey man,
Thanks for the help on mine. DONT go after Burnett. At least I wouldnt. The Yankees are where pitchers go to die especially in that park. I would shoot for pitchers like Nolasco (extreme reduction in value), Slowey, or maybe someone like Cain who is undervalued. Thanks again

I like Slowey better than Burnett unless you need K's, but if you want Burnett I'd try to trade Reynolds for him - Reynolds is a good sell high IMO, he's always been a streaky hitter. Sell him before the slump.

I'd avoid burnett as a trade target as well.
Without ME it would just be AWESO.

I agree to shop Reynolds while he's hot and see what type of pitcher you could net. I'm not a fan of Burnett at all. I'm always waiting for a DL stint and the Yankee home park is lookin pretty band box like. I guess givin a first rd pick for a player you feel could put you over the top for a championshiop is def worth it, but i guess it just depends on how much you like Burnett. gut call, i just get scared of him. maybe pair Reynolds and a 1st rder and go after a more reliable pitcher. thanks for the response to mine, i appreciate it.
