My J. Johnson/Slowey/Beltran for Santana/McClouth/J. Vargas?

I would probably end up dropping Vargas, but their are not many good pitchers on the WW. Also, Ervin Santana has me worried.

I think you're giving up too much. Take out Slowey or Johnson and remove Vargas from the equation.

I'd take Johan/McLouth over Beltran/JJ. As deep as your staff is, tossing in Slowey there isn't a major loss.

he offered this deal to me - I offered him JJ/Beltran for McCLouth/J. Santana and he countered with this..... so I think at this point it is take it or leave it

i don't like you giving up both slowey and johnson. would he take johnson or slowey and smoltz or hughes instead? i'm with you on ervin santana, so i'm guessing he wouldn't take him either. i like you getting johan and mclouth for sure. i'd try to tweak it a bit to not have to give up both young pitchers. thanks for your help.

he rejected the offer when I threw in Hughes and said he did not have much interest in Santana

Okay, it looks like you have some nice depth at your pitching already with Oswalt, Gallardo, Vazquez, Wainwright & Harang. You also have Tommy Hanson who is still waiting to be called up. If the deal to make it or break it is Josh Johnson, Kevin Slowey and Beltran...I think you can afford to part with Slowey in this case and do the deal.

I think getting Santana and McClouth is worth it -- Beltran is a headache sometimes and Slowey is great but I think Slowey plus JJohnson might = Santana when all is said and done. Obviously 2 pitchers are better than one, but Johan is quality for sure.

Id pull the trigger, Citi field has such a huge impact on both hitters and pitchers, i see a decline in power for beltran the rest of his year and santana pitching in that park is just unfair
