ARod and Beckett for Haren and Halladay

Postby Therobsclub » Sun May 31, 2009 4:53 pm

OK, so I have a stud line-up due to a couple pickups, and great sell high trades. I have just been offered this trade. It's only a 2 hitter/2 pitcher keeper league meaning I have 4 hitting keepers on my team via:
Pujols, ARod, Braun, and Cabrera. It would make the most sense to me to Keep Pujols and Cabrera.

Now I should probably trade either Braun or ARod. What should I do? Ride my team out, or trade one and bolster the pen?

C - Matt Weiters
1b - Albert Pujols
2b - Brandon Phillips
3b - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Michael Young
OF - Johnny Damon
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Jacoby Ellsbury
Util - Miguel Cabrera
BN - Vlad Guerrero

SP - Josh Beckett
SP - CC Sabathia
RP - Bobby Jenks
RP - Jonathon Broxton
P - Max Scherzer
P - Andrew Bailey
P - Chris Carpenter
BN Chris Young
BN Joakim Soria - DL
Bn - Tommy Hanson
BN - Joba Chamberlain
DL - Edinson Volquez

I would ride that out for a while and see how it plays out. You pen is still decent, esp if Bailey locks down the closer role. You don't want to make a rash move this early just because you won't be keeping those guys. Braun and A-Rod will always have value to someone, even towards the end of the year.

I'd stand pat. Worry about the keeper decision later and try to deal one of your OF for a starter.

I would stand pat too as starting Vlad isn't ideal right now. I'd wait for the trading deadline to approach and if your worried about keepers, offering one of those guys heads up for Lincecum seems like a good place to start.

Echo the above. I do not think you should be in a hurry to look at keepers. You have bonafide contender here. Chase the title this year. Plenty of time for late season or offseason trades. Your needs could change, and you may need to fill the cracks later. You'll have all the pieces you need.

Ya i would ride it out too. Try deal Vlad for an arm. He may not get you top value right now but definately a solid SP. Don't deal arod.
