Any way, I was offered Phillips and Weiters for Roberts and Saunder.

Do I do this deal?

If I do, I would probably play Weiters at UTIL since I have Mauer.


Do I do this deal? Or, do I counter Weiters with Bruce? He also has Orlando Hudson, do I take him over Phillips?

Yeah, I would do that trade as offered. Phillips is better than Hudson I think, who will come down to earth. Weiters is too good to pass up and Saunders is ok, but certainly nothing special that can't be replaced. Pull the trigger.

Though I like the deal in value, I would see what else I can get. I see no reason to hold Mauer and Wieters at the same time at this point. I am trying to deal one of: Mauer, Inge, Wieters myself in a 2 catcher league. So, on value alone, sure, but it's a waste of a position (and trade value) to have a catcher as your Utility.

I see your point about Weiters, but if he performs like a top player and when he doesn't catch, he DHs, like today. So, does it really matter what position he plays as long as he produces?

It's not a reason to not take the deal per se. My point is that Wieters (and Mauer) as a catcher is more valuable than a better hitter at their position, so, for instance, trading Mauer for one of the Top 5 hitters in baseball would not be unwarranted. It would leave you with a better Utility slot.

Do I maybe ask for another bat and see what he says? He has Bruce, Loney, Rios, and Reynolds, or is Weiters the best option here?

maybe target Bruce over Wieters since I agree no use carrying 2 catchers

I do like the deal with the players mentioned...but would you really play Matt Wieters over Prince Fielder in the utility slot?
