Is this a fair offer? WHIR!!

Postby woowoo crew » Sun May 31, 2009 3:43 pm

I want to get a 3B and a CF.

Here's my offer:
My Chris Davis, Fukudome, and Jair Jurrjens (Jurrjens gets great pitcing stats every week... categories: W, L, SHO, SV, K, BLK, ERA, WHIP, K/BB, PICK, NH, QS, BSV)

for

Mark Reynolds, Curtis Granderson

I know that Reynolds strikes out just about as much as Davis, but I think it's worth a shot. It seems Davis either hits a homer or strikes out. Is this a good offer on my part? If not, what is???? Would I need to offer Cueto instead of Jurrjens?
My team:
C: Inge
1B: Morneau
2B: Kinsler
3B: Davis
SS: Cabrera
IF: Zobrist
LF: Braun
CF: Fukudome
RF: J. Guillen
OF: Teahen
UTIL: Kendry Morales
Bench: Blalock, Jose Lopez, S. Drew, Iannetta
SP: Haren, Verlander, Maine, Cueto, Jurrjens, Slowey, Edwin Jackson, Harden (start 5 each week)
RP: Broxton, Wilson, Soriano (start 3)
C: McCann
1B: Konerko
2B: Cano
SS: Reyes
3B: Freese
IF: Encarnacion
OF: Ethier, Jennings, Willingham, Quentin
UTIL: Freeman
BN: De Aza, Pagan, Aviles
DL: Ellsbury
P: Felix, Price, Buchholz, Lynne, J. Johnson, Wandy, Valverde, Jansen, Chapman, Betancourt

You might have to offer a bit more than fukudome to get this done. Reynolds is a sell high guy and Davis is a buy low so that isn't working in your favor. If you can get it, I'd do it.

the deal is in your favor, no doubt. But it's close enough to propose and not get laughed at

I think Jurrjens makes up for where Fukudome lacks. Good deal, although of course next year Davis will hit 40+!

thanks for help on mine

I wouldn't accept this trade if it was offered to me. Like someone else said, Davis being buy low and Reynolds sell high works strongly against you. Fukudome is in and out of the FA pool in my leagues, so I'd need a big pitching upgrade to deal Granderson. Try this trade first, but don't expect much. Cueto would probably get you a better response. Good luck.

Thanks for help with mine.

you might get better results if you switch out Jair for Cueto and their pitching has been fairly comparable this year so that wouldn't be too bad a trade off. Honestly though, unless this guy is pretty desperate for pitching I don't really see this trade as having a lot of upside for him. You might be better off simplfying your approach and only going for one of the two and form a trade that way.

best of luck!

the guy i want to trade with is an absentee manager. he hasn't done a thing since the draft. our commissioner told us we could offer trades that were fair, and the league would vote. he'd make the roster moves.

would it be smarter to go after ryan zimmerman and matt kemp instead of reynolds and granderson? kemp is a downgrade from granderson, while zimmerman is an upgrade to reynolds.

I like it. I say propose the trade. I'm not a huge fan of Davis; I'm not doubting his tremendous upside, but it may take him another year to truly fulfill it. And Fukudome is not the greatest fantasy option, especially in such a deep outfield class.

Go for it. Reynolds can provide you some power and Granderson is a multi-category stud.

This is a tough one. I don't know what the other team has or needs. It looks like you afford getting rid of Jurrjens, and Granderson is definitely better than Fukudome. If you're in a keeper league, you might want to keep Davis. If not, pull the trigger and see what happens.
