Several players who were kept at the beginning of the year were recently dropped. They include Garrett Atkins, David Ortiz, Corey Hart, and Chris B. Young (OF). I was wondering if I should add any of them via waivers, and who I should drop. (I have the first waiver claim). To me, the most enticing one is Corey Hart, but I'm not sure who I would even drop for him.
As an aside, my team is struggling with saves with Soria out, and I'm in the process of working on a deal for a closer.
I don't think I would drop anybody for Hart in your league. The two choices that come to mind are Choo and Ethier, but I don't think Hart is an amazing upgrade over ether player (at least, not a big enough upgrade to justify a #1 waiver pick IMO.) I actually just dropped D. Ortiz for C. Hart in my 10 team league (after Hart cleared waivers).
Always get a few more opinions, but I think I would pass personally. If you do decide to make a move though, I would drop Ethier for Hart personally.
i agree, in this case it is too close to waste your waiver priority. I would say drop Choo but he is having a nice year... maybe just hold out for now and keep an eye on Hart... your OF and Util are pretty crowded so you definitely don't need him.
Even with Soria coming back, I can really use another closer.
I tried offering trades to no avail such as: I get George Sherrill, I give Choo and Hawkins I get Bobby Jenks, I give Andre Ethier and Hawkins I get Jonathan Broxton, I give Andre Ethier and Hawkins (even considered adding Bengie Molina but he said no)
(Since I have Matt Wieters as a prospect, Molina is trade bait for me)
What other trade proposals do you all recommend to improve my closer situation? (My main reason for adding Hart after all was to give me additional trade bait).
I'm going against the grain and would drop Choo for Hart. Even if Hart doesn't live up to his potential, I think you will be able to get more in a trade for him than you are for Choo. I think Hart heats back up and I'd rather have him than Choo.

What if I dropped Hawkins through waivers and added Hart with my #1 waiver pick? I could probably get a bonified closer with Hart in a trade.... thoughts?
