Sizemore/Upton Deal WHIR

Postby cranfire87 » Sat May 30, 2009 10:32 pm

I am in a 12 team H2H 5x5 keep 5 league and have been offered Justin Upton and Joba Chamberlain for my Grady Sizemore and Scott Baker. I know Sizemore is slumping and Upton is putting up great numbers, but Sizemore's numbers besides his avg aren't awful and Upton is unproven despite the hype. Should I consider this deal? The guy also has Peavy but I still feel like giving up a top OF like Sizemore for Upton who is no guarantee hurts me more than getting a better pitcher would, especially considering I still have Johan Haren and Lincecum

I wouldnt make this deal, sizemore is still putting up decent numbers despite his dismal average and he should eventually start to hit the ball better (he hit a homer tonight I think) - I would pass on this deal

Help pls!

Thanks for the reply (however...if you read it closer I do not nor will I ever own the washed up Ortiz)!

As far as your post......no, NO, Heck No and well........absolutely not a chance you do this trade. It is absolutely horrible and Sizemore is a beast (when on)....and it doesn't hurt that he also hit a dinger today as well. Joba hasn't been great and Sizmore (even in a slump) is worth 5 times as much as a hot Upton.

Don't do this trade or you'll regret it later.

I have to agree w/ the rest. Hype is just hype. JUp could be great, or he could be nothing. Stick w/ Sizemore.

I wouldn't do this deal but there was talk earlier in the week about Sizemore possibly going to the DL(elbow); also read this on Yahoo Player notes via Rotowire.
Sizemore (elbow) will serve as the Indians' DH for at least two more games, the team's official site reports.

Recommendation: The elbow problem has limited him to three days in the outfield since May 19, and he has gone 10-for-43 since then.(Rotowire.com)

IMO, I'd try to get as much value as you can for him(maybe trade him for a 3B given your roster).

In response to "Stars/Pinstripes", sure.....Grady has an injured elbow of sorts but the main talk of him headed for the DL has nothing to do with the elbow....it has everything to do with his poor play as of late. (caused by the elbow? Maybe, but the elbow issue is just a cover up)

After Grady's HR and decent play today I think he will stay in for at least another couple days but he will need to keep playing well everyday to avoid the DL (not just 1 decent game every 2 weeks...lol)

Regardless if he get's thrown to the DL or not though I would take the proven veteran here just because he is not completely dead yet like some Vets.....he is still putting together decent games here and there and once here figures out what he is doing right then watch out because lights out Cleveland as "SuperSize" will be blasting all day every day! :-o
