How to Value Cruz and Bruce- WHIR

Guy in my league wants to give me cruz and bruce for martin and peavy

I want to do it because I need the HR's, and I've already got Joe Mauer at catcher. plus I've very strong in pitching

SHould I do this? I'm finding it hard to gauge Cruz's value, plus what is Bruce's deal with the low AVG, will that increase?
