Is it time to cut bait on Scott Baker?

Postby hooligan1 » Sat May 30, 2009 10:02 am

I don't get this guy. I feel like I've been very patient, but I'm just not sure it's going to happen this year for him. He's not walking guys, but seems really susceptible to the bomb. He also seems to cruise through about five innings and then starts getting into trouble after that..... I drafted him with the hopes he could be at least major league average with a chance at being really good, instead he's been almost completely awful. Not sure what to think. Ubaldo Jimenez is available; would I be better off with him...?

Any thoughts are appreciated!!

I wouldn't drop Baker yet.

Id give him a little while longer.

As an Ubaldo owner I can tell you he's been pretty frustrating to own this year too. Both have some upside though and can only get better from here so if you can find a way to pick up Jimenez too without dropping Baker Id try and do that. any other options to drop?

I have him on my team and I'm still hanging on to him. His WHIP is under 1.20 which is still quite good. He usually only has one bad inning, but pitches extremely well the rest of the game. Last night, too, it was one inning that did him in. The week before he was awesome. I'm still giving him time. He's definitely been far better than his first few games and seems to be heading in the right direction.
