Telling a player to take a pitch is the dumbest thing ever. It was a 3-1 count top of the 9th man on 1st and 2nd no outs and Bowa tells Loney to take the pitch.... verbally from 3B. Of course that led to a 87 mph pitch right down the middle for an automatic 3-2 count where he has to swing at anything close then grounds into the double play. 3-0 I don't want the batter to even think of swinging but 3-1 should never be taken all the way unless it is a horrible hitter.
