need some strategic advice

Hey first post, have been a longtime baseball fan but never a serious fantasy competitor because my group of friends generally only put together NFL and NBA fantasy leagues. Anyway I am getting in Fantasy Baseball this year and I need some advice

I am in a h2h 12 team mixed league and the stat categories for pitchers are Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, e.r.a and whip. lineups are daily, and we start 3SP, 2RP and 3P I decided to punt to saves during the draft. Anyway my staff has a lot of horses I took Lincecum, Haren, Billingsley, and I hit on Cueto and Bedard in the later rounds - - and I have Max Scherzer who looks to be coming around. But throughout season I have been running out my horses plus a lot of marginal SP Matt Palmer, Ricky Nolasco (who I took real early) Matt Hairson, Manny Parra, Jordan Zimmerman... anyway I am wondering if I would be better off dropping the lower tier guys and picking up non-closing relievers like Ramon Ramirez, Brandon League, Matt Guerire, Mike difelice, Joel Zumaya as opposed to running out these lower tier pitchers chasing Wins and strikeouts?
