Which Struggling OF? Sizemore or Braun? WHIR!

Postby jmcampbe11 » Fri May 29, 2009 8:45 pm

10 team roto league in which we keep 3 players each season. With that in mind should I make this trade? Keep in my mind I'm currently in 1st place and my weakest category (only getting 2 pts) is batting avg.

Give - Sizemore/ Lilly/ Zobrist
Get - Braun/ Lowe*/ Theriot

*PS) I could ask for B.Wilson (I'm down to 2 closers) instead of Lowe.

MY TEAM
C-Martin 1b-A.Gonzalez 2b-Phillips ss-Alx.Ramirez 3b-Longoria CI-Reynolds MI-Zobrist
OF-Sizemore, Hamilton, Adm.Jones, Dye, V.Wells UTIL-Reimold (or Crisp)

SP-Greinke, Gallardo, Carpenter, Lilly, Jimenez, *Smoltz
RP-Broxton, Qualls, *Percival, Wheeler, Isringhausan, Morrow

I would Def do it..Braun and theriot will help me a lot..

Braun will be a keeper just like sizemore will be, but braun will help you out more this season as well..Theriot will help your avg too.

Could make a case to get a closer or low..What are the WW availability of starters in your league???

Lowe will be better than jiminez, who knows if smoltz will start...Wheeler should be closer(would make 3) however I heard something that qualls can be available for trade by July..

I prob go with closer over starter just bc you can get quality starters off WW

Thanks for help

I suppose its ultimately a matter of preference between Sizemore and Braun. I personally, even as a Brewers fan, prefer Sizemore to Braun because of his 30/30 ability. I feel like the Zobrist Theriot swap ultimately ends up at about even. If you prefer Braun, that's ok, but the Lilly-Lowe/Wilson swap is what ultimately turns me off to this deal. I personally prefer Lilly to Lowe. Both guys will post similar or at least comparable ERAs and WHIPs with the advantage going to Lowe, but Lilly will strikeout a lot more batters and still win you plenty of games.

...keep in mind I'm struggling in batting avg (Sizemore's one flaw) and I've already tried unsuccessully to trade my other low batting avg players like Reynolds. Still feel the same? Also, what if I asked for Nathan over B.Wilson?

I do feel the same. I think Sizemore's batting average will come up and when it does, I don't think his Batting Average will be an area that ultimately hurts you.

Braun is the better player for this year. He has been money while Sizemore can't get it going. Plus, since you're struggling in avg you definitely don't want Sizemore.

Help?

Sizemore's batting avg hurts you.

For those of you who like the trade for me should I ask for D.Lowe or B.Wilson? Who would be a better fit for my team? Again, I'm pretty much down to 2 closers and, in theory, have Smoltz coming back eventually.
