There were some reports earlier in the year that he was getting frustrated in A ball being pitched around and not being challenged by low level pitching. There were more questions about his desire and attitude as some days he'd look phenomenal and other days like just another guy. These aren't good things for a guy who's had his character questioned before, but could explain the dramatic production jump when he moved to a more challenging league.

I haven't seen anybody question his ability.

I haven't seen anybody question his ability.

I had not heard anything about his attitude/desire since last off season when it was also mentioned that he was over weight. Def will be interesting to watch him and I hope that he doesn't turn into a Delmon Young type guy.

The Pirates will not promote top prospect Pedro Alvarez this season.
Alvarez has hit 23 home runs this season and leads the Eastern League with a .440 August batting average. "We really like what Pedro has done with the bat, but he still has some strides to make with his glove," said Pirates GM Neal Huntington. "It's not just about his offensive performance.
